Kevin, if you are a contractor and not a direct government employee (which seems the case if a company hired you), you will still find some real benefits to working on a base. Example is, most of us contractors have today off because it is a federal holiday.
Also, the food courts on base are pretty much open to anybody with a base ID, as are the beaches.
And they often let me get the flu shot with the active duty because they will have vaccine left over anyway. I could get it for free at my doctor’s, as retired military, but this saves me a trip.
