I received these books in 1969, for Christmas when I was 11 and in 6th grade. I know that because I wrote all that information, including my address and phone number, inside the cover that Christmas Day. I also wrote that I received them from my mom’s favorite cousin and her husband who, ironically, still live in that same house 55 years later. They are sturdy believers in their 90’s.
These fiction books were published by Moody Press and take identical twins, Lois and Lettice Belmont of England, from their early teens in boarding school to young adulthood. In the process, one twin meets Jesus at summer camp, then the other twin and the rest of the family eventually come to faith in Christ. Some mysteries and huge real life obstacles present themselves as their faith matures.
These books appear to be timeless (except no one has electronics!). I enjoyed them as much now as I did that Christmas Day when I finished the first one while my parents socialized with my mom’s adult relatives all day (no kids were there to play with!).
Now these books move onward to reside with our favorite set of identical twins, the Ellingson girls!!!
Funny how 1969 was a key year for so many of us in different places. You guys are cracking me up!!!!!!!
