Last year Joey, his counselor, a couple of his mentors, and I embarked on a book study together, The Anger Management Workbook by W. Robert Nay, a counselor in the D.C. area.
I finally finished it today. While secular, it does not contradict God’s Word or His principles and it provides much practical counsel based on years of helping clients.
There are ways to de-escalate our own anger as well as tips for dealing with important people in our lives who either explode in anger at us or give us the silent treatment.
This was actually one of the more helpful works I have read on interpersonal relationships, asking people for what we need in a relationship and being willing to negotiate solutions to situations in which both people feel it is win-win.
Most of all, this book teaches treating others with respect in all our relationships, a facet of society that seems to be sorely lacking in our times.
