To go with Pastor's sermon this morning, this video of Westminster Abbey to show that royals, too, bow before the Almighty God with loud, ascending praise!
This arrangement of Psalm 100 was made by Ralph Vaughan Williams for the Queen’s Coronation back in 1951. We have actually done it at Tab and have a few copies of it somewhere. I sang it with Amanda Baker, Josh Savage, and Coach Cook about ten years ago. Joyce Yoho played trumpet for us.
Such majesty and beauty. I have always been fascinated by Westminster Abby. In our travels up north during furlough, especially as we passed churches in Vermont and New Hampshire, I have always been fascinated by their structural beauty and their stained glass windows (which we had in the church I grew up in) and thought how wonderful it would be if they were clearly presenting the Gospel and telling people how to be saved!
Some Church of England people are genuinely saved, I found. The church I attended for two years presented the gospel clearly, but had some charismatic aspects (evening service was more that way).
I understand from all accounts that the Queen was a genuine believer in Jesus who always mentioned there was a ruler far above her to Whom she owed allegiance. Her son, maybe not so much!
The first song is the same tune as The Doxology. We used to sing that in the church I grew up in, along with the majestic church hymns like Crown Him with Many Crowns. The sad thing is that the Gospel was never clearly presented to us. 😔
