In Pastor's Sunday school class in January, he proposed a list of ten New Year's resolutions for us and we agreed to try them.
Looking back over the past three months, I see that my decision to study the Word deeply and systematically drives all the other resolutions.
Before, I would read the Word but would often forget what I read before I got to work. It would also often seem like a chore I had to check off, as did other spiritual disciplines.
Systematic study is becoming my delight, as it often has been in the past when I made it part of my life by joining a regular Bible study. This time, I am doing it with an accountability partner, with whom I exchange notes on our weekly study. That makes all the difference for me! I seem unable to be disciplined when I am completely on my own.
Do it however it works for you, but I highly, highly recommend regular, systematic study of God's Word.
