I was talking to a coworker who is a young Christian. We were talking about memorizing scripture. A thought came to me as we were talking, how do you hide God's word in our hearts?
Ruminating. In Vermont when I was about 7, I was given the job of bringing a dairy farmer's cows from the night pasture to the milk barn. As I watched the cows waiting to be milked, they would suddenly be chewing on something. Then they would swallow, but after a while, I'd see the same cow chewing again. Harry (the farmer) explained how a cows digestive system worked and said that the cow was made to be able to get every bit of nutrient out of it's food by regurgitating and chewing over and over again. Gross, huh? But in a way, our minds are designed the same way. If we take the time to study something, then let our mind move on to something else, but keep reconsidering the thing over and over again, after a while that thing becomes a part of us. The beauty is; God's Word never runs out of "nutrient". 😁👍
